The Brazilian midfielder and new arrival of Manchester City, Fernando signed with the English club earlier in the month of June as City had to pay the Portuguese side Porto around €12 million in order to seal the services of Fernando on a permanent deal.
Fernando will be playing alongside popular and recognized players such as: Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero, Frank Lampard, David Silva, Samir Nasri, Bacary Sagna and James Milner just to name a few of the more well-known figures of Manchester City but Fernando is most excited to work next to Yaya Toure.
After being officially unveiled as a player of Manchester City, Fernando told the media: "I've always admired Yaya. But the team is made up of great players. When I was growing up my favorite players were Gilberto Silva and Mauro Silva, but now it is Yaya."
The former Porto player Fernando is nicknamed as ‘’The Octopus’’ this is due to the vast amount of tackles and balls he is accustomed to do in a normal match with physical presence being one of his main attributes it’s one of the main reasons on why Manuel Pellegrini decided to pick him up and add him into the team as a way to reinforce the midfield department of the team.
A few days ago Yaya Toure announced his intentions of remaining with Manchester City in spite of all the rumors, reports and incidents that was linking the African midfielder to a move away from the team of Manuel Pellegrini. Manchester City is believed to not have allowed Yaya Toure to take a break and allow him to visit his brother who has passed away from cancer and the African player is reported to have felt dissatisfaction towards the club and some of his teammates after they ignored his birthday but at the end of it all it has made no difference as Yaya Toure pledged his alliance and future with Manchester City for the years to come.
