Yaya Toure's agent Dimitri Seluk says that his client will start talking with other clubs if he does not receive an offer from Manchester City within one week.
Touré has given this timeframe to receive a new contract. The 32-year-old Ivorian is thought to be concerned about his future prospects at the Etihad stadium. He has only one year left on his contract, but City have not shown any urgency to sign him on for further time. This may be partly down to the managerial change that is going to happen at the club in the summer.
Pep Guardiola will be coming in to replace Manuel Pellegrini andit is widely known that Guardiola sold Toure to City for just £ 24 million when he was at Barcelona. It is clear that the Spanish manager does not rate Touré as an important part of the midfield. Hence, it remains to be seen if he will remain at the Etihad stadium beyond the summer. The lack of clarity on his contract is a worrying trend for his agent. In the past, Touré has regularly been awarded a new contract. His age could also be one of the factors behind City biding their time.
Seluk his client wants a clarity before the arrival of the new manager. "We want to make a decision in one week. If not, we can start conversations with different clubs.Yaya prefers to stay. He likes Man City. He wants to stay in Manchester City. But if some people think we do this for the money - we rejected offer from China for example. If he leaves, he will not go to another English club. Guardiola, I think he likes Yaya. Guardiola or no Guardiola - they must make a decision," said the player’s agent. Touré is currently injured at the moment.
