Thiago Silva is going to remain away from action for some time at least after injuring his hammy playing against Napoli the other day.
The MRI tests have been done on the defender and the results have not been too positive. It’s believed that he will be missing 3-4 games for his club Paris Saint-Germain.
Silva will obviously be sidelined now from Brazil’s matches too during international break.
The Selecao has to face Colombia and Ecuador back-to-back and they will have to do without Silva in those two games.
Some of the PSG fans are blaming the manager Laurent Blanc for this injury of Silva.
They reckon that it would have been good if the manager had used Silva for a substitute appearance only rather than using him as a starter in the first league game against Reims as the fitness of the Brazilian was not the greatest having spent a few weeks away from the training.
Silva had actually been on holiday after the World Cup and he had returned to training just a few days ahead of start of the season.
Blanc, however, being in charge of the camp, would know better how fit a player is or not in the PSG camp and if he played Silva as a starter in that game against Reims, he must have felt that the Brazilian was ready for that. So, he must be given the benefit of the doubt.
While, Silva is out, it’s Marquinhos, another Brazilian, who would be partnering his compatriot David Luiz in the heart of PSG’s defence.
Luiz is new in the PSG camp having joined them this summer only, from Chelsea. He has cost the club huge transfer fee. So, he will be under pressure to deliver.
