Yaya Touré has been rumoured to leave Manchester City in the summer due to the arrival of manager Pep Guardiola.
It is quite apparent that Guardiola does not rate Touré and it was one of the important reasons behind the sale of the former Barcelona midfielder. Guardiola was the manager of Barcelona when the club decided to sellTouré to Manchester City for £ 24 million. Since then,Touré has proven to be one of the best buys for City, although there have been times when he has been at his absolute worst.
The 2015-16 campaign is an example of Touré not being at his best. His lethargic attitude on the pitch has been immensely criticised on all fronts especially since fans have witnessed his immense abilities only a couple of years ago.Touré almost single-handedly helped the club win the league titles and FA Cup medals. His agent stated a few weeks ago that City should provideTouré with a new contract – even though the player is at 32 years of age – or allow him to leave on a free transfer. The midfielder still has one year left on his contract. The lack of interest from City towards extending the deal has promptedTouré’ agent to claim that his client may leave on a free transfer next summer.
“At the moment Yaya is a Manchester City player. We’ll see what happens. Inter are a great club and Mancini is a great coach, but we still have to wait. There are two things holding up the move, substantially. City want to continue focusing on him and intend to keep him for next season, but this is normal because Yaya is a great player. On top of that, the Nerazzurri are limited by Financial Fair Play,” said Yaya Touré’s agent Dimitri Seluk.
